Advantages and Disadvantages of Client Side Scripting

What is Client Side Scripting?

Client-side scripting simply means running scripts, such as JavaScript, on the client device, usually within a browser.

A script that is interpreted by the browser is called a client-side script. A client side script is also an instruction set, but it is not processed by the webserver.

The script is sent to the browser (as a part of the HTTP response) and is processed by the browser. The result is only then displayed by the browser.

Advantages

  • The response time is often quicker.
  • Reduces the web server’s workload.

Disadvantages

  • Browser specific
  • The code in your client-side scripts is completely visible to the user.
